DS – Settling Grit Classifier

The DS classifier design is a conventional grit separator with some unconventional durability features.   The shaftless spiral has no lower bearing and is manufactured from a special high strength, alloy steel.  The wear bars are of the bolt-in-place design for easy replacement.  Wear bars can be monitored for replacement by the wear pattern on the bolts.

This large volume grit separator uses sedimentation to achieve effective separation of grit and liquid.  Settled grit collects at the base of the shaftless screw.  The screw rotates intermittently and at a low speed which dewaters the grit as it is conveyed to discharge.  These units are found in municipal wastewater applications as well as many industrial applications that require grit separation for disposal.

Capture efficiency is 90% separation of particles ≥200µ.
Optional air injection in conveying spiral enhances dewatering.
An optional low friction, anti-wear HDPE trough liner is available in lieu of wear bars.
This classifier is designed for low maintenance and reliable operation.
The settling tank and discharge trough are made of 304L stainless steel (optional 316L SS is available).
